Word
Index a document
- The document must have been previously saved in order for this function to work.
- Select the e4DM
icon from the tool bar to index a word document. - The e4DM Index routines are then instigated.
- The content of the document will also be indexed so that FTR searches can be undertaken, provided the Document Type is set to allow OCR.
- Select the e4DM, Index option from the menu bar to index a word document.

- Select the e4DM, Insert Composite Files option from the menu bar to insert images previously selected in SoftView into the document.
Outlook
Index e-mail(s)
- Highlight e-mails to index, then select the e4DM
icon from the tool bar to index the e-mail(s).
- The e4DM Index routines are then instigated.
- The content of the e-mail(s) will also be indexed so that FTR searches can be undertaken, provided the Document Type is set to allow OCR.
- Highlight e-mails to index, then select the File, e4DM, Index Items option from the menu bar to index the e-mail(s).
- The e4DM Index routines are then instigated.
- The content of the e-mail(s) will also be indexed so that FTR searches can be undertaken, provided the Document Type is set to allow OCR.
- Select the File, e4DM, Index Folder option from the menu bar to index the folder.
- Select the folder to index.

Excel
Index a spreadsheet
- Select the e4DM
icon from the tool bar to index a spreadsheet.
- The spreadsheet must have been previously saved in order for this function to work.
- The e4DM Index routines are then instigated.
- Select the e4DM, Index option from the menu bar to index a spreadsheet.
- The spreadsheet must have been previously saved in order for this function to work.
- The e4DM Index routines are then instigated.
- Select the e4DM
icon from the tool bar. - A sub-screen will appear if excel doclink templates have been created.
- The use will be prompted to use the current highlighted excel data or a particular column as the source for the document search.
- The required template needs selecting.
- Upon clicking the Find Documents button documents will either be displayed immediately via SoftView, or as a tree display categorising the index data which will enable the users to view a various grouping of documents.
- The tree will be displayed if a tree view intercept has been assigned in the template.
